If you stop feeding strife, it will eventually lead to a peaceful life.

About This Quote

When the U.S. Government was looking for a way to end the Vietnam War, they decided to take a look at the possibility of ending the war through peaceful means. In the end, they decided that these peaceful means did not work and that they would have to resort to war. Shortly after, in 1973, a former Vietcong fighter named Nguyen Co Thach came to President Nixon and told him how he had been secretly going around South Vietnam and spreading a message of peace.

Thach suggested that a better solution would be if the people of South Vietnam stopped fighting one another and instead worked together against the war. The government was so impressed with what Thach had to offer that they immediately implemented his plan. They even paid him a monthly salary from their funds for his efforts.

The result? Thach’s ideas were so good that they actually worked! In just three years, there were no more Vietcong attacks and in 1969 South Vietnam was officially at peace!
